Course content

Academic content

This is an advanced course in organizational communication organizations and media psychology. The course will deal with how people communicate and use digital media in working life, organizations, and everyday life. The course will emphasize the introduction and use of various forms of digital and social media in working life, organizations, and people's daily lives. Students will learn to apply key concepts and understand challenges in the fields of organizational communication and media psychology. Examples include various forms of internal communication and the role of a leader, external communication related to reputation and corporate social responsibility (CSR - Corporate Social Responsibility), the relationship between internal and external communication, as well as communication challenges in organizational change and conflict management. Students will also learn about media psychological topics like mastering digital media and how the use of digital media frames human communication.

After completing the course, the student will have in-depth knowledge of key concepts and challenges related to organizational communication and media psychology. The student will also be able to apply these concepts to specific cases and topics.

Knowledge:

The student has in-depth knowledge of the role that communication and digital media play in modern working life, organizations, and everyday life.

The student has advanced knowledge of how various forms of digital and social media are introduced and used in working life, organizations, and people's daily lives.

The student can apply concepts and analyze academic topics from the fields of organizational communication and media psychology, as well as discuss and present case studies from relevant companies, organizations, and people's everyday lives.

Skills:

The student can analyze and critically relate to key concepts and theories on communication and use of digital media in and from companies, organizations and in people's everyday lives.

The student can analyze key topics in the field of organizational communication, such as internal communication, external communication and communication challenges in organizational change and conflict management.

Students can use key concepts and insights in the field of media psychology, such as how people master digital media, and how digital media frame human communication, both privately and in working life.

General competence:

The student can analyze and apply key concepts, theories, and topics in the fields of communication in organizations and media psychology.

The student can apply their knowledge and skills to advanced and independent work assignments and projects.

The student can communicate about academic topics and their own work tasks, both to professionals and the public.

The student can contribute to innovation processes, criticism, and creative thinking.
