Course content

The Master Thesis is a scientific analysis of a topic within industrial ecology and should have a length of 50-55 pages and must not exceed 22000 words (table of contents, reference list and attachments are excluded). The thesis must be an individual work and should be in the form of a monograph. Individual supervision is mandatory and constitutes a substantial part of the work with the thesis. This ensures that the student is offered the necessary knowledge and involves an essential control of the collecting and treatment of data, within ethical research guidelines. Supervision is therefore a compulsory component of the programme for students who wish to submit a master thesis.

Learning outcome

The learning objective is to prepare the students for independent research. Through mandatory supervision the students will be guided through the various steps included in a research project such as constructive and critical evaluation of others' research, research preparations and cooperation, data collection, analysis, and research presentation. The process leading up to the master thesis gives students skills that are useful in administrative jobs as well as in teaching and research.

Learning methods and activities

Mandatory master thesis seminar and individual supervision. The subject of the thesis must be approved by the department. Every student must sign a master thesis agreement which, among other things, regulates supervision. The master thesis agreement must be signed by January 10 in the spring semester. The thesis has a deadline, and must be submitted within 21 weeks (including Easter) after the submission of the master thesis agreement. The deadline of the thesis is therefore June 6.

Compulsory assignments

  • Master thesis seminar and individual supervision

Further on evaluation
