Course content
The master’s thesis is an in-depth study on a high level involving music technology in artistic performance/production, scientific research, or pedagogical/methodological application. The thesis is normally an individual work, but can also be done in groups. In this case, the thesis needs to clarify the individual contributions of each student, and the amount of work for each student has to correspond to one year of study.

- has knowledge of central and current work within artistic and/or academic research related to the thesis work
Skills:
The candidate
- can carry out an independent and delimited project under supervision within artistic or academic research, or pedagogical/methodological application

Learning methods and activities
Academic supervision. Please see link for the numbers of hours of supervision eligible for your master's thesis https://innsida.ntnu.no/wiki/-/wiki/Norsk/Masters+agreement+-+Faculty+of+Humanities
Master's theses written in Norwegian or Scandinavian must have a summary in English. Master's theses written in a non-Scandinavian language must have a summary in Norwegian.
Compulsory assignments
- Work-in-progress presentations at plenary sessions with student peers
Further on evaluation
The type of examination will be decided when the theme and form of the in-depth study is agreed upon.
As the master’s thesis can take many forms, and include multidisciplinary combinations of creative production, research projects, or pedagogical/methodological applications, the form and length of the final product may vary considerably based on each student's professional choices. The 60 credits work delivered must show a workload of a full year of study.
Regardless of form, a master project normally consists of a practical work accompanied by a written reflection between 16 000 - 40 000 words.
