Course content
The course covers different aspects of liturgical organ playing:
- choral playing
- liturgical parts
- hymn prelude/intonation
- choral improvisation
- free-form improvisation.
"Rhythmic" repertoire from the hymnals (spirituals, gospel, "songs of the worldwide church")

Skills
The candidate:
- has basic skills in liturgical organ playing
- has basic skills in liturgical organ improvisation
- has basic skills in free organ-improvisation
Knowledge
The candidate:
- has basic knowledge about and an understanding of congregational singing
- has a basic understanding of style within various church musical traditions
Learning methods and activities
Session-based lessons in groups. Extensive individual work effort and practice on the instrument.
Instruction is obligatory and demands minimum 80% attendance.
Compulsory assignments
- Satisfactory participation in compulsory instruction
Further on evaluation
Practical examination on the organ, 15 minutes. The assessment is handed out three days prior to the exam.
