Course content

This subject includes chamber music and ensemble repertoire and literature from essential epochs for the students instruments. The subject is primarly offered to established ensembles, not to individual students. The ensemble type should be central and natural for the instruments. For some instrumental constellations duos can be possible.

The ensemble is expected to rehearse together regularly and to a large extent throughout the academic year.

Learning outcome

Knowledge:

The candidate:

  • has knowledge about relevant chamber music repertoire
  • has knowledge about the style and the possible ways of interpretation of styles in the music they play.

Skills:

The candidate:

  • can present and communicate chamber music to an audience.
  • has been trained in ensemble playing and how to agree on the musical intentions of the ensemble
  • can handle variable chamber music roles

Learning methods and activities

Weekly instruction in chamber music. Instruction is obligatory and demands minimum 80% attendance.

The ensemble must perform two self-arranged concerts.

Compulsory assignments

  • Two concerts organized by the ensemble
  • Minimum 90 minutes of studied repertoire
  • Satisfactory participation in compulsory instruction

Further on evaluation

Practical examination in chambre music.

The repertoire list (minimum 90 minutes) includes the program for the examination concert and must, together with concert reports from the student’s participation in compulsory concerts, be submitted for teacher approval medio April.

Admission to a programme of study is required:
Music Performance Studies (BMUSP)

Required previous knowledge

Requires passed MUSP4135 or corresponding course.
