The Master's thesis is usually written in monograph format. The thesis can be submitted individually or as a joint project for two students. If the thesis is submitted as a joint project, a document describing the individual candidate's contribution must be attached. When the Master's thesis is submitted as a joint project, a common grade is typically given for the thesis. In rare cases, however, it may be necessary to assess the candidates separately.

Admission to a programme of study is required:
Primary and Lower Secondary Teacher Education for Years 1-7 (MGLU1-7) - some programmes
Primary and Lower Secondary Teacher Education for Years 5-10 (MGLU5-10) - some programmes
Recommended previous knowledge
30 stp in mathematics education on master level must be passed before the student can enroll in this course.
Required previous knowledge
-Passed Mathematics 1 and Mathematics 2 (60 stp in total) or similar
-Passed Research-and-development-thesis from third year at leacher education for primary school
