Writing, reading and oral competencies are key competencies in L1, school and society. L1 has an important role in the development of literacy - to understand, interpret, create and communicate, and to critically choose, combine and use different textual practices for different purposes. Further on evaluation

The form of examination in MGLU4101 and MGLU4501 is portfolio. During the courses the students will prepare the portfolio by developing a workbook. The workbook consists of texts (written, oral, multimodal) that are created in relation to the courses' assignments, and contains more texts than the portfolio. The texts/assignments are created during and between the lectures, text seminars and workshops (oral/written presentations of analytical work, feedback in various forms). All the compulsary texts in the workbook must be approved/passed in order to submit the portfolio for the exam.

The portfolio must consist of three chosen texts from the workbook, which is further developed. In addition, the portfolio must contain a reflective text where the student argue for the selection of texts and frame them in relation to the course description.

The portfolio is assessed as a whole, and the individual texts will not be graded. All the contributions must still be assessed as a pass in order for the folder as a whole to be assessed as a pass.

The portfolio as a whole must show the breadth and depth of the course and be anchored in various theories about reading, writing and oracy relevant to the course description (and specialization: 1-7 or 5-10).
