Course content
The course is based on Physical Education 1. In Physical Education 2, the students will increase their didactic competence and develop independent and professional reflection on teaching and learning in physical education. The course includes knowledge and experience of research and experimental development in early learning in physical education. Moreover, physical education is elucidated and discussed in an interdisciplinary context and its application to diversity and differences among pupils in the school. The course also includes knowledge of the body in motion as well as training principles for children.

- has basic knowledge of research in physical education
- has knowledge of motivation, assessment and documentation of learning in physical education
- has knowledge of physical education and bodily learning in an interdisciplinary perspective
- has knowledge of the concept of "Bildung", fair play and respect for others
- has knowledge of movement environments, physical activity, exercise and training principles suitable for pupils
- has knowledge of the human body in motion, especially related to learning of and in movement activities
Skills
The student
- can work with physical literacy and with physical education in interdisciplinary context
- can reflect on didactic issues and use relevant theory and research to improve teaching in physical education
- can carry out and assess learning in outdoor activities, including overnight trips
- can plan, carry out and assess research and development related to own teacher competence and teaching in physical education
General competence
The student
- can contribute to innovation in physical education and to school development
- can work with diversity and inclusion in physical education, and reflect on the subject's content and role in a multicultural school setting
- can execute professionalism as a physical education teacher
Learning methods and activities
The teaching consists of lectures and practical lessons. Students must work individually and in groups.

Compulsory work requirements:
- 80% compulsory attendance in lessons (see teaching plan)
- Up to 6 compulsory work requirements
Compulsory work requirements are assessed as approved/not approved and can be postponed or improved individually. Compulsory work requirements must be approved before the exam. New / postponed exam is conducted in accordance with the current study regulations at NTNU.
Exam:
1. Conduct and document independent R&D work.
2. Individual written exam (6 hours)
Partial assessments can be taken up or improved individually.
If R&D work is not approved, you have opportunity to submit an improved assignment for assessment only once (counted as exam attempt number two). At the third exam attempt, a completely new assignment must be submitted.
It is possible to appeal a grade given on parts of the assessment

Admission to a programme of study is required:
Primary and Lower Secondary Teacher Education for Years 5-10 (MGLU5-10) - some programmes
Recommended previous knowledge
Physical Education 1 (30 credits) or equivalent.
