Course content
- Mechanism design: analysis and synthesis, velocities and accelerations. Difference between kinematics, kinetics and dynamics
- Introduction to basics of dynamics
- Vibrations
- Dynamic loading on shafts, critical frequences, balancing of the shafts
- Gear wheels
Learning outcome
The candidate can define the basic components that comprise mechanical devices. The candidate is able to draw representative schematic models of mechanical devices suitable for the kinematic and/or dynamic analysis. The candidate is able to calculate the possible motion of the mechanism defined by position, velocity and acceleration (both linear and angular) of its parts. The candidate has an understanding of the consequences of the chosen technology and can asses advantages and disadvantages of alternative solutions and methods.

Further on evaluation
Mandatory work from previous semester can be accepted by the Department by re-take of an examination if there have not been any significant changes later.
Compulsory exercises: - 2/3 of mandatory tasks are required to be approved to take the exam.
Project assignment for group, presentation of project results shall be approved to take the exam.
Project report is 40% of the grade.
Individual exam is 60% of the grade. All printed and hand-written support material is allowed. All calculators are allowed.
Resit exam is held in August. Resit exam may change examination form from digital home exam to oral exam if the teacher decides this.
Resit exam can be implemented for some parts without all assessments need to be retaken. It is given the opportunity to complain about parts of evaluation in this course before all sub-evaluations have been completed.
