About the course
Course content
Tensions and springs; Pressure vessels, pressure- and crimp-connections and tolerances and fits; Rolling and plain bearings; Threads and screws; Calculation of statically loaded welds; Couplings, brakes and clutches; Mechanisms and gears.
Learning outcome
Knowledge: The candidate has knowledge of: The properties and applications of steel as construction material; Design and functioning of machine parts; Calculation and engineering design; Use of standards and catalogs.
Skills: The candidate is able to design machine elements according to functional requirements.
General competence: The candidate has insight into the technical consequences of chosen solutions. The candidate can use own skills and can communicate results orally and in writing in collaboration with other engineers.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures. Exercises: 2/3 of the exercises must be approved to take the exam.

Mandatory requirement: The number of exercises is announced at the start of the semester. 2/3 of the exercises must be approved to take the exam.
At postponed exam (re-sit exam), the examination form may be changed from written examination to oral.
Compulsory activity from the previous semester can be approved by the department by repeating the course if there have been no significant changes in the program later.
