About
About the course
Course content
The course topic will vary according to the excursion or local situations, exhibitions and monuments. Most of the teaching will take place outside the usual university facilities, at galleries, art historical monuments or urban environments. In some cases activities include practical work in collaboration with museums and collections.
The students will choose for themselves which art project to concentrate on, and develop relevant ways to deal with it in written form in each case. The course will not just work towards comments to and communication of single art projects, but contribute to theoretical reflections on the field of public art in general. Adjacently, this amounts to the question of the specificity of this kind of art amongst the objects of art historical study at large, and in which ways public art stands out from the traditional main focus on painting and sculpture in museum settings.
