Course content
The Bachelor thesis is a scientific project and shall be documented as a scientific rapport with introduction, method, results, conclusion and discussion. In the thesis, the student applies the knowledge and skills the student has adopted earlier in the studies. The Bachelor thesis shall give a detailed understanding of a specific chemical engineering challenge. The Bachelor thesis shall be based on a real problem setting, agreed with a supervisor (professor) at NTNU.
Learning outcome
After the course, the students will have knowledge of scientific theory and methods. They have knowledge related to working methods in research and innovation. The candidate has the theoretical knowledge to define, analyze, accomplish, and document project work within chemical engineering. After the course, the students are able to apply relevant tools independently. They can integrate acquired knowledge and adopt new knowledge in the solution of new problems. They are able to discuss the work performed and draw conclusions.
Learning methods and activities
The Bachelor thesis shall be carried out as an independent work. Regular meetings between the student and advisor(s) will be organized to discuss the status and plans.
The student shall deliver a written report in English.
Further on evaluation
The grade is based on written documentation. The following aspects will be considered:
- originality and depth of the work
- technical solutions and calculations
- problem definition, method description, evaluation of results compared to problem definition, and how the results support the conclusions.
- independent work
- critical judgment of performed work and achieved results
- correct and clear documentation.
