Course content

  • General presentations of research activities in Norway in the different areas of radiology and nuclear medicine
  • Presentation of specific research projects and PhD projects with emphasis on projects in Trondheim
  • Knowledge of research methods and study design, including knowledge of special challenges in research in radiology and nuclear medicine
  • Knowledge of clinical research, preclinical research, translational research, population research and medical technology research in radiology and nuclear medicine

Learning outcome

In General:

  • Knowledge about research methods and study design, including knowledge about specific challenges within the research in the disciplines radiology and nuclear medicine.
  • Knowledge about clinical research, pre-clinical research, translational research, epidemiology and medical technology within the discipline radiology and nuclear medicine.

  • How to define a good research question
  • Design of studies in clinical research, preclinical research, translational research, population research and medical technology research in radiology and nuclear medicine
  • Design of observation studies versus intervention studies
  • Choice of methods and choice of analyzes for validation of diagnostic and therapeutic benefit in clinical research, preclinical research, translational research, population research and medical technology research in radiology and nuclear medicine.
  • Knowledge of the opportunities that Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Big Data provide for research in radiology and nuclear medicine.
  • Knowledge of how to write a good scientific article in radiology and nuclear medicine

Learning methods and activities

Three full days of lectures. The course will be held in Trondheim fall 2023 (in norwegian only).

Course materials

Curriculum consists of approximately 15 scientific articles.
