Course content
Business intelligence (BI) is about searching for, collecting, integrating, analyzing and presenting data in such a way that they provide a good basis for decision-making for organizations. The course includes: Decision support / decision process, reasons for operating with BI, data warehousing, reporting and OLAP, dimensional modeling Business intelligence & analytics, data visualization
Learning outcome
Knowledge
Candidates:
- has knowledge of the potential of business intelligence systems to help decision makers search, collect, integrate and analyze data
- Has insight into the various components that are part of a BI solution
- Has insight into challenges related to BI
- Has knowledge of principles, methods, concepts and models related to business intelligence
Skills
Candidates:
- Can design multidimensional data models
- Are able to build analysis models in a BI system (eg Tableau or Power BI)
- Can use BI tools to perform analyzes
General competence
Candidates:
- Can apply knowledge and skills in such a way that he/she can play an active role in the design of BI solutions in a specific business context
- Can communicate with ICT consultants about needs related to specific BI solutions

Form of assessment: The final grade is set on the basis of two assessment elements. Both of these must be passed separately.
Written exam. Grade scale A-F. This counts for 60% of the total grade.
Project assignment counts for 40% of the grade
The re-sit exam for the school exam is in November/December. A re-sit exam can be arranged as an oral exam. Repetition of the project assignment takes place in a semester with teaching.
