About the course

Course content

Exchange students Campus Gjøvik only

Any student wishing to register for this course, must first make an appointment with the academic staff present at NTNU in Gjøvik Department of Information Security and Communication Technology (IIK) or Department Computer Science(IDI).

The project is defined in agreement with a supervisor at NTNU (Campus Gjøvik), and will address challenging development problems. Students are advised to contact academic staff at the Department of Computer Science (IDI) at NTNU in Gjøvik or the Department of Information Security and Communication Technology at NTNU in Gjøvik (IIK) in order to make an appointment for Project work. This must be done prior to Application. A final report as well as an oral presentation of the Project will form the basis for evaluation.

Learning outcome

After completing the course the student will have experience from (skills and knowledge):

  • working individually, or in a group, to solve a challenging development problem
  • selecting and using tools necessary to solve the problem
  • developing and assessing alternative solutions to the problem
  • documenting the results in a project report

General competence: The student will have developed a positive attitude to working in a problem-oriented way and is familiar with relevant codes of ethics and professional conduct.

Learning methods and activities

Project work

  • The project status must be reported regularly to the supervisor.
  • The project report must be presented orally to a general audience towards the end of the project, to be arranged and agreed on with the supervisor.
  • The project report will be assessed and evaluated by the supervisor at NTNU in Gjøvik.

Students will have access to Blackboard course room (NTNU Learning Management System) serving similar projects courses, only for the purpose of additional best-practice information regarding project work and report writing.

Further on evaluation

  • A final report as well as an oral presentation of the project will form the basis for evaluation (A-F), to be arranged and agreed on with the supervisor
  • The project work / report should reflect on the UN Sustainable Goals

Admission to a programme of study is required:
Miscellaneous Courses - Faculty of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering (EMNE/IE)

Required previous knowledge

The student must be an exchange student signed up for a Bachelor's degree at a foreign college or university.

The student must have an agreement with a NTNU-supervisor located on Campus Gjøvik (the IE Faculty Dept IIK or Dept IDI / Campus Gjøvik) for his/her project.
