Course - Post-Quantum Cryptography - IIK8105
IIK8105 - Post-Quantum Cryptography
About
Lessons are not given in the academic year 2024/2025
Course content
The course is taught every year and every semester based on demand, both in Trondheim and in Gjøvik. Interested students can contact the course coordinator to coordinate when the course is offered.
The contents of the course may vary, but will be about post-quantum cryptography. Common topics include lattice-based cryptography, code-based cryptography, hash-based cryptography, and isogeny-based cryptography, with a particular focus on standardised algorithms. The course may also cover other hard problems assumed to be secure against quantum computers, quantum algorithms, hardness estimation and parameter analysis, the quantum random oracle model, advanced post-quantum schemes, side-channel attacks on post-quantum cryptography, and more.
Learning outcome
A. Knowledge: Acquire an overview of and an advanced understanding of post-quantum cryptography and an insight into standardised algorithms and their hardness levels.
B. Skills: The ability to describe, analyse, and construct post-quantum cryptographic protocols.
C. General competence: Being able to participate in scientific discussions, present relevant results, and begin with research in post-quantum cryptography.
Learning methods and activities
The course begins with introductory lectures, and thereafter student presentations and discussions. The course will be taught in any semester when a sufficient number of students are interested.
Further on evaluation
Oral presentations on assigned topics.
