About
Lessons are not given in the academic year 2024/2025
Course content
The course consists of two parts:
1) Introduction to sensor systems: Design of a general measuring system. Static characteristics. Measurement accuracy. Sensor Technologies. Analysis of measurement systems.
2) Practical instrumentation: Construction of complete instrumentation systems. Development of virtual instruments. Use of data acquisition devices and programming development environment.
Learning outcome
Knowledge: After completing the course the candidate should be able to
- have broad knowledge of all individual elements of a typical sensor system
- describe the construction of a general measurement system
- describe and interpret static characteristics
- explain the behavior and characteristics of selected sensors
Skills: After completing the course, students should be able to
- design measurement systems that meet specified requirements
- program data acquisition and data presentation
General competence: After completing the course, students should be able to
- have insight into relevant issues within instrumentation
- evaluate specifications, design, construction, and operation of an instrumentation system
- be able to plan and carry out varied tasks and projects that extend over time, alone and as a participant in a group.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures, exercises and laboratory assignments.
Compulsory assignments
- Laboratory exercises
Further on evaluation
Mandatory work requirements: All of the laboratory work must be approved to be qualified for grading. The grade is calculated on basis of 3 project reports. Every report counts 33,33% for the end grade.
