Course content
Electronic filters and amplifiers. Architecture of microcontrollers and microcontroller systems. Interfaces in microcontroller systems. Programming of microcontroller systems, including real time aspects. Conversion between analog and digital signal representations. Digital signal processing. The course will collaborate tightly with the concurrent, relevant courses.
Learning outcome
The candidate should be able to
- design and explain the workings of electronic and digital (sub) systems in the time, frequency or s domain based on what is purposeful.
- implement analog (sub) systems using discrete components on breadboard and self-designed PCBs.
- implement digital (sub) systems using an adequate microcontroller platform and/or FPGA-techonology.
Learning methods and activities
Student-active forms of learning including lectures. Design and analysis with guidance including laboratory exercises. Laboratory exercises will be done using personal lab equipment. Information about the obligatory activities will be announced at the start of the semester.
Compulsory assignments
- Exercises
Further on evaluation
The final grade of the course is given through an aggregated assessment consisting of two objects, an oral exam and individual deliverables in the form of reports. The two objects each count 55% and 45% respectively towards the final grade. The reports are technical papers documenting design projects given during the semester. Information on the scope of the reports, possibilities for feedback, delivery method, deadlines and assessment will be given at the start of the semester.
A failing grade on the reports will require this object to be re-taken.In case of a re-sit examination of the oral exam, this will be executed as an oral exam the following August. If the course isn't passed after the re-sit examination it is possible to re-take individual objects.
