Course content
Wireless communication. Analog and digital modulation methods Transmitters and receivers for modulated signals. Modulation methods. Frequency synthesis and oscillators. Wave transmission and radio link calculations. Antennas. Selected topics from the field of satellite communication. Wireless sensor networks and their applications. Lab exercises on key topics, possibly project e.g. on the realization of a wireless sensor network.
Learning outcome
Knowledge. The candidate must: - have an understanding of wireless transmitters / receivers, be able to draw up block diagrams and describe the function of the individual parts, as well as make calculations on these. - know different types of modulation and explain their properties. - know different antenna types and their properties. - have knowledge of what affects transmission conditions. - know the Internet of Things and the application of the latest wireless communication technology in the field. - know selected areas in satellite communication. - understand the characteristics and challenges of using wireless sensor networks. - know selected, relevant research in applications of wireless communication. Skills. The candidate can: - describe and perform calculations on relevant radio systems. - select the type of wireless communication and network. - set up a wireless communication link, measure, evaluate, and optimize performance. General competence. The candidate must: - know basic concepts in radio technology and have an understanding of the structure of wireless / radio-based communication systems - know the motivation, requirements and areas of use for wireless instrumentation. Have an understanding of the characteristics, opportunities and limitations of industrial standards, their similarities and differences.

Exercises: 7 exercises, of which 1 is a compulsory TBL module (Team Based Learning). A total of 5 must be approved. Lab exercises or Project: Compulsory participation and submissions (approved/not approved). In the case of postponed exam the examination form can take form of an oral exam. Postponed exam: May/June
