Course content
- Electrical wiring diagrams.
- Structure and functioning of a programmable logic controller (PLC) and its components.
- Practical programming of PLC in a modern development environment.
- Addresses and instructions.
- Sequence programming with single, alternative and parallel processes.
- Basics of pneumatic and hydraulic systems
Learning outcome
Knowledge: The candidate can explain
- System functionality based on a given wiring diagram.
- Structure and functioning of a PLC.
- Structure of general sequence programs.
- The basic operation of pneumatic and hydraulic systems
Skills: The candidate can
- Understand and draw electrical wiring diagrams.
- Program a PLC and document the user program.
- Commissioning a PLC-controlled plant.
Digitization: The course helps the candidate learn about digital management and communication, digital user interface, and the use of modern development tools.

Lectures, team-work, home-exercises, computer-exercises, lab-exercises.

Minimum work requirements to take the written exam: 6 of 8 computer-exercises, 3 of 4 home-exercises, 3 of 3 lab-exercises must be approved.
Allowed aids at the exam: Specified printed and handwritten aids allowed. Simple, specified calculator. Postponed exams are arranged in August. Postponed exams can be changed to oral exams.

General programming skills, basic digital and analog electronics.
Required previous knowledge
Concerning applications for credentials, approval and incorporating of courses from previous semesters or other institutions' corresponding education programs, each application will be processed individually and the applicant should expect credit reductions for overlapping courses.
