About the course

Course content

Analog signals. Basic concepts in linear continuous-time systems. Time/frequency domain analysis. Fourier series and transform. Laplace transform. Poles and zeros. Convolution and correlation. Introductory topics in electronic circuit analysis, telecommunication and feedback control.

Learning outcome

Knowledge - The candidate shall be able to:

  • Describe the concepts of continuous-time (CT) systems.
  • Explain the convolution and correlation of CT signals.
  • Analyze periodic signals and apply the concept of Fourier series.
  • Assess linear time-invariant (LTI) systems through their transfer function.

Skills - The candidate shall be able to:

  • Apply the concept of CT transformation on energy signals.
  • Analyze electronic circuits, telecommunication systems, and feedback control systems in the frequency domain through CT transformation.

General competence - The candidate shall be able to:

  • Know both Norwegian and English appropriate scientific expressions.

Learning methods and activities

Lectures. Mandatory exercises.

The number of training exercises and laboratory tasks are given at semester start. The mandatory activities must be delivered according to given deadlines and must be approved to be allowed to take the exam.
