Course content

The course aims to give students insight into the practical everyday life within the sports field. Examples of what is included in the sports field can be clubs, sports teams, local or national federations, municipalities, and county councils. Through the internship, the students will try their hand at the role of researcher with the intention of providing knowledge that the internship can use in their practice.

The students must be out in their internship two days a week for 8-10 weeks throughout the semester, and gain insight into the "daily" work tasks in the internship field, and contribute as a professional in the relevant environment. The content of the internship is developed and laid down in an internship plan in collaboration between a contact person from the relevant internship, the student and the course supervisor.

Learning outcome

Knowledge goals - the student should be able to:

  • gain insight into current situations and issues at their internship placement.
  • reflect on how theoretical knowledge in the field can be applied in practice.

Skill goals - the student should be able to:

  • undertake a research assignment in given by their internship placement using their professional competence.
  • write an evaluation report on their own practice.
  • write a paper on their research assignment which their internship placement can use in their field of practice.

  • 70% attendence at the internship during the internship period

Exam registration requires that class registration is approved in the same semester. Compulsory activities from previous semester may be approved by the department.

Specific conditions

Admission to a programme of study is required:
Sport Sciences (MIDR)

Required previous knowledge

75 credits in Social Sciences and Sports Sciences or equivalent. The requirement must be fulfilled to be admitted to the course.
