Course content

The emphasis of the course is to learn how to conduct and empirical or theoretical study. This study could be a pilot experiment, to validate methods meant for the master paper. The study is done with guidance from the assigned master thesis tutor and presented in a written report. The topic must be approved by the tutor.

Learning outcome

Knowledge - the student shall:

  • achieve practical experience in the collection of data and the testing of a measurement device. either through the use of a questionnaire or an interview.

Skills - the student shall demonstrate the ability to:

  • carry out at least one data collection through the use of an measuring instrument, either through the use of a questionnaire or an interview.

Learning methods and activities

Teaching method and activities: Research seminars and supervision equivalent to 2 hours per week. Form of assessment is the individual paper.

Compulsory assignments

  • Approved topic for the term paper and attendance at seminar.

Required previous knowledge

SOS3004 and SOS3005 or equivalent. The requirement must be fulfilled to be admitted to the course.
