Course content
«Portfolio and final exhibition» is a comprehensive practical design project in which the students are to develop techniques and skills related to graphical design and project management. Portfolio and final exhibition is founded in konwledge and skills the student has gained through the course of the study programme. The course is mainly student driven. The student gets responsibility - with guidance of the tutor(s) - to build his/her portfolio consisting of eight self-selected design works from earlier courses. The portfolio is to be designed, produced and put forth for assessment (letter grade A-F) as well as the final exhibition. The class has additionally a collective responsibility when it comes to project management for portfolio production (i.e. printing and binding or digital publishing), as well as organization and marketing of the exhibition.
Learning outcome
The student shall develop further as a designer, specifically within the field portfolio design and design for self promotion. The module entails the structuring, design and technical preparation of a large content matter gathered in a comprehensive portfolio (prepared for print or digital publishing), including design for navigation and access, hierarchy, composition of text and images/illustrations, and preparations for publication including colour management and technical adaptations. The student will also have to make use of methods for project management and marketing to meet deadlines for the production of portfolios and to promote the final exhibition.
Learning methods and activities
Individual design project, with several supervision sessions for selection of works to the portfolio as well as portfolio design. The processes and work related to the final exhibition is distributed within the graduating class.
Further on evaluation
The portfolio a self designed presentation portfolio and four exhibition posters.
The project is self organized and the student is in charge of the whole process from idea and concept to a bound portfolio is finished.
The student get three rounds of feedback from the course responsible and teachers.
The final presentation portfolio and print files for the exhibition posters are submitted through May.
The portfolio is assessed as a independant work by internal and external sensors (A - F). Four criteria are weighted: Usability, idea and concept, appearance and craftmanship.
If the course is failed, a new portfolio must be submitted through the next regular run-trough of the course.

The course is limited to students in the program Bachelor in Graphic Design.
