Course content
OTE is an advanced course in organization theory, with particular attention to the way organizations change and evolve. Key topics are technological change, dynamics of power, rationalization, organization concepts and learning processes. Students should learn to engage critically with classical text and contemporary debates. Students should also become familiar with academic writing and the article format.
Duration of the course will be two semesters, and it is taught every second year, next time starting Fall 2025.
Learning outcome
Students should have a broad overview of the field of organization theory, and have an advanced understanding of the relationship between organization, technology and change. They should be able to reflect critically on important perspectives and positions, their content, methodology and logic of argument. Through working with reflection notes and the exam paper, students practice scientific writing.
Recommended previous knowledge
Masters degree in industrial economics and technology management, sociology, psychology or equivalent qualifications.
