Course content
The course is given for PhD candidates where this course is relevant for their PhD project. The course content will, as far as possible, be connected to the candidate's PhD project
The students will get a defined syllabus adjusted to the chosen PhD theme. The students shall use the achieved knowledge in elucidation of a occupational hygiene case of relevance.
The course is given when needed.
Learning outcome
Knowledge:
- The course will provide an understanding of the forefront of knowledge in the field.
- The course will provide knowledge and understanding of the thinking on the various factors related to occupational hygiene with a particular focus on factors relevant to the issues of the PhD project.
- The course will provide knowledge to understand the content of the scientific literature in the field.
- The course will provide knowledge of important theoretical approaches to the field.
Skills:
- The course will provide skills in formulating research questions and fix the limits of issues appropriate for the scope of an article.
- The course will provide skills in finding scientific literature and applying this in one's own research.
- The course will provide practice in writing scientific articles in the field.
Competence:
- The course encourages critical thinking around established truths and "schools" in the field.
- The course contributes to an awareness of the importance of ethical dilemmas within the occupational hygiene area.
Learning methods and activities
The course will consist of self-study, colloquia with students and lecturer, as well as the writing of a semester assignment, which requires the use of syllabus on specific research questions.
In the case of fewer than 5 applicants, the Department of Industrial Economics and Technology Management reserves the right to cancel the course.
Recommended previous knowledge
Master degree in Sustainability, Occupational Health and Safety Management (BAS) or other master degree with master courses within occupational hygiene/occupational health.
Required previous knowledge
The course is based on the course TIØ4186 Occupational Health and Safety, the course TIØ4351 Occupational Hygiene, or similar documented previous knowledge.
