Course content
The students will learn about Fire Protection and First Aid through lectures and practical exercises using fire extinguishing equipment, and exercises in heart-lung resuscitation and the use of a defibrillator. The student will also learn about fire and evacuation routines at NTNU.
The course does not provide specific training in HSE aimed at various laboratory fields and activities. This training is done by the individual departments.
Learning outcome
Students shall acquire the necessary knowledge about HSE to ensure their own and other people's safety during their study at NTNU. The theoretical and practical basic training in first aid and fire protection shall provide the students with a basis for correct handling of a fire or accident situation.
Learning methods and activities
The course has a duration of 3,5 hours and takes place between 16.15 - 19.45 PM. There will be a 10-minute break between the first aid course and the fire protection course.
First Aid: lecture and practical exercise (approx. 2 hours and 15 minutes)
Fire Protection: lecture and practical exercise (approx. 1 hour and 15 minutes). The practical exercises in using fire extinguishing equipment will be held outside.
The course is held during September and October. Each student is only required to attend the course once, and with your program of study. More information about dates will be given at the beginning of the semester.
Further on evaluation
The HSE course is mandatory and requires attendance. Attendance is registered by scanning QR-codes during the course. To pass the course, the attendance must be registered.
