Course content
Cells and tissues, the integumentary system, the muscular and skeletal system, the nervous system, blood and the cardiovascular system, the respiratory system, the digestive system, the urinary system, the endocrine system, the reproductive system and pregnancy, homeostasis, normal histology
Learning outcome
Upon passed exam the student should:
- have knowledge in anatomy, physiology and histology as a basis for the profession-specific laboratory subjects
- can be able to explain the normal structure and functions of cells and tissues, organs and organ systems.
- can be able to explain the microscopic appearance of cells and see this in the context of their function in the body.
- can be able to recognize the normal microscopic morphology to the organ systems.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures, labortory courses. Total workload for each student will be 200 hours. There will be about 60 scheduled hours with lectures and laboratory courses.

The four laboratory courses and three of four written submissions must be approved before exam. New/postponed exam: August. New/postponed exam can be changed to oral exam. For applications for credits, approval and integration of courses from previous years or other institutions' equivalent education, each application will be evaluated individually. A reduction of credits (studiepoengsreduksjon) might apply if the candidate has passed exams in overlapping courses.

The course is restricted and reserved for students at the Bachelor of Biomedical Laboratory Sciences, Trondheim.
