Course content

The course will emphasize on urban and architectural history/theory, place analysis, sustainability in architecture and urban design, aesthetic and creative methods as well as training in urban design.

Learning outcome

Knowledge: The candidate has knowledge on different architectural forms, urban planning history, methods for urban analysis as well as principles for settlements and centre development under a sustainability perspective. Skills: The candidate can work in interdisciplinary teams to assess local urban contexts to produce strategies for centre and settlements development. Students can apply qualitative urban analyses, produce graphics and presentations to communicate progress and results from planning processes.

Learning methods and activities

The course is based on a semester (term) assignment conducted as group work. In addition there will be some exercises both as group work or individual work. Lectures and exercises are mostly linked to the semester (term) assignment.

Further on evaluation

The group assignment counts 100% towards the final grade in the course. You can register for a re-scheduled delivery in the next exam period.
