Course content
FILM2204 is an undergraduate course in film studies that explores different explanations of the viewing experiences that occur in encounters with films and series. The course may focus on, for example, affective engagement, embodied empathy, and cognitive reactions, and thus suggests a multi-layered approach to the film experience as a phenomenon.
Learning outcome

After completing the course, the student has knowledge of:

- audiovisual conventions that influence viewing experiences.
- how these approaches and conventions can be used in analyses of the film experience.

After completing the course, the student can:

- employ these approaches and conventions in their own analyses of the film experience.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures and screenings, as well as short written tasks.
This course may be taught in Norwegian or English, pending staff availability.
Students are required to stay updated on information from the department or course director via Blackboard.
