DRA2007 - Individual work experience

Course content

Individual work experience is an elective bachelror course where the student spends time at a workplace where drama and theatre is a central part of the enterprise, for example a professional theatre or company, a museum/art gallery, a school/culture school, a digital theatre platform, Trondheim council's cultural unit. The purpose with the work placement is that the student aquires knowledge about the rutines, activitites and professions of the concrete workplace including its relevance in society as an art and culture enterprise. Students signing up for this course must contact the workplace themselves which the course leader approves. The duration of the practice must be 40-80 hours. The student is responsible of organising their own time so the practice does not interfere with other program-related courses.

Knowledge about the role and social relevance of the concrete workplace as an art and cultural enterprise

Basic competence in the activities of the concrete workplace

Learning methods and activities

Compulsory activities that must be passed in order to take the exam:

Have the workplace approved by the course leader and the Department

Before the practice can begin, the student is responsible for filling out a (standard) formal contract and have it signed by the contact person at the workplace, the department, the course leader and the student themselves.

Accomplish 40-80 hours participation in the daily routine of the workplace

The practice must be finished and approved by the course leader two weeks before the exam. This cannot be done unless the contact person at the workplace has confirmed in writing that practice has taken place.

Individual literature list of around 400 pages must be approved by the course leader two weeks before the exam

Further on evaluation

The exam is an individual reflective report from the practice, 1500 words

In the report the student must account for what they have learnt and experienced at the specific work place. To pass the course it is a pre-requisite that the individual literature list is used and referred to in the report.

Assessment: Pass/Fail.
