Course content

This course covers central questions and challenges related to records management. The focus is on principles, standards and common solutions within the field of records management, in lieu of frameworks and intentions in legal frameworks, technological possibilities and human resources. The records management is also seen within the overall framework and aims of the society. Furthermore, the course covers questions related to GDPR in relation to records management. Here we look at the tensions that arise between the right to privacy and the general right of public access to records. The course also covers theory, practice and methods related to the analysis of functions and processes within public and private organizations. Another topic covered is enterprise architecture. How do we analyze the functions and processes of organization, and how are we able to establish good working systems for information flow and decision-making, that support business aims, needs and records requirements. Other topics covered are value assessment of records, records capture and preservation of the records created by the organizations.
