Course content

The course provides an introduction to organizational theory, including organizational structures, culture and communication in organizations, and the individual in the organization. The course also provides an introduction to basic change and management principles.

Learning outcome

Knowledge:

After completing the course, the student should be able to explain:

  • Goals and strategy in organizations
  • Different forms of organizational structure and know how organizational culture affects an organization.
  • Organizational environment and its significance for the organization.
  • The individual and communication in the organization
  • Learning and innovation in organizations
  • Management principles
  • Change processes and change management

Skills

After completing the course, the student should:

  • Both individually and in groups be able to discuss and explain how an organization works based on the subject matter.
  • Both individually and in groups be able to analyze real cases based on the subject matter of the course

General competence

After completing the course, the student should be able to:

  • Communicate the subject matter both in writing and orally.

Learning methods and activities

Teaching in the course takes place through sessions consisting of lectures and case assignments. The case assignments take place in the classroom where the teacher and the students discuss the cases in light of the theory. In addition, it is planned that the students will prepare by reading and writing notes on the relevant topic in advance of the meetings.

Compulsory assignments must be approved to sit for the exam.

Re-sit exam might be changed to oral exam.

Admission to a programme of study is required:
Digital Business Development (ITBAITBEDR)

Required previous knowledge

The course is reserved for students admitted to the Bachelor in Digital Business Development.
