Course content

This course offers in depth competence in core themes within chemistry and physics with emphasis on chemical and physical processes with environmental consequences. The students will be able to put future pupils in a situation where the pupils can make competent choices within a sustainability context. Special focus will be on pollution, greenhouse gases and energy sources.

Learning outcome

KNOWLEDGE

The candidate

  • has knowledge on mechanics and thermo physics
  • has basic knowledge on quantum mechanics, atom, molecular and nuclear physics
  • has broad knowledge on different chemical reactions
  • has knowledge on the effect of various chemicals on climate and the environment

SKILLS

The candidate

  • can explain the mechanisms driving the effects of greenhouse gases
  • can explain the principles behind energy sources and energy carriers
  • can use knowledge in physics and chemistry to explain the effects of human activities on climate and the environment
  • can evaluate various claims on climate and environmental effects within a chemical and physical framework
  • can use acquired knowledge to discuss possible solutions for climate and environmental issues
