Course content
The module gives students insight into the language development in bi- and multilinguals from both theoretical and applied perspectives. It introduces the notions of communicative and performative competence and examines approaches to language teaching in culturally and linguistically diverse classrooms. It also examines the role of intercultural competence and pragmatics in language teaching.

Required previous knowledge
30 credits in a foreign language (English, French, Spanish, or German). The prerequisite must be met prior to enrolment in the course.

A list of required course readings will be provided before the beginning of the semester. Articles will be uploaded on the NTNU online learning platform prior to class.
