Course content
Early phase planning: Early phase planning of road, water and civil engineering infrastructure including concept selection study, impact assessment, risk and vulnerability analysis. Selection and criteria for selection and assessment of concepts and overall solutions from VAO and roads. Cost assessments in early phase, Outer environmental plan etc.
Land use: Practical physical planning and the planning system, development of zoning plans, analysis and technical presentation using digital tools.
WATER: Water supply system infrastructure, drinking water regulations, ROS analysis, pressure zone planning
Roads: Coordinated land use and transportation planning and impact assessments related to traffic flow, traffic safety and local and global environment.
Roads and water and sewerage: Design of road and water and sewage infrastructure using digital terrain models.
Digital processing expertise of terrain models. Ethics strand: Be able to identify ethical issues in planning work.
Learning outcome
Knowledge
The candidate must be able to
- explain the municipal planning system, the structure of the planning system and processes
- examine interdisciplinary topics for the development of good plans
- consider the importance of the "Drinking Water Regulations" as a basis for operation and design of the water supply system
- perform a simple ROS analysis for water supply system
- know the principles within capacity calculation veg
Skill
The candidate must be able to
- perform suitability analysis as a basis for planning in small to medium-sized fields.
- master the preparation of a zoning plan for a medium-sized field and use a digital plan preparation. make a pressure zone division for water supply - propose and calculate a solution for a main system for water supply
- perform a comprehensive optimization of traffic flow in a given area master the preparation of a technical plan for roads and water and sewerage linked to a zoning plan.
- carry out digital production using a terrain model for designing roads and water and sewerage both in plan and profile in simpler projects.
General competence
The candidate must be aware of the goals of the planning system in order to promote and take care of the necessary social benefits. The candidate must understand the ethical issues that arise in a planning process and be able to participate in the process and contribute to good interdisciplinary solutions.
Learning methods and activities
Activity from lecture, computer lab, exercise and project. Compulsory exercises must be passed to be eligible to take the exam.

Written exam (40 %), consultancy panels in groups (60 %).
In order to be eligible for the exam you must pass the compulsory assignments. The amount of compulsory exercises is given at the start of the semester.
In case of a re-sit exam in August, the examination form may be changed from written to oral. Deferred exam for the project partial assessments is only available in the same semester as the course is taught.
Continuation and voluntary repetition / improvement can be carried out for some sub-evaluations without having to reassess both sub-evaluations in a topic. There is an opportunity to complain about partial assessments in this topic before all sub-evaluations have been completed.

Recommended previous knowledge
Passed the previous courses in study track civil and environmental engineering. Due to necessary digital competence and theme cooperation, the courses TBM4265 and BYGT2314 should be taken the same semester as this course.
