About the course
Course content
Wood design according to NS-EN 1995-1-1 og NS-EN 1995-1-2. Beams for moment, shear, lateral buckling and deflection, columns for axial and lateral loadconnections. Design of beams and columns for fire protections. Stability and bracing systems. Details and joint design.
Learning outcome
Knowledge: - After having completed the subject the student will have knowledge of the empirical and theoretical background for the eurocodes (NS-EN) relevant for the topics of the subject. Skills: After having completed the subject the student will be able to design simple and also somewhat complex wood structures, including bracing systems, according to the relevant eurocodes. General competance: - After having completed the subject the student will have very good insight into the carrying capacity of wooden structures. - have acquired the necessary technical language of the subject.
Learning methods and activities
Scheduled time: lectures: 60 hours; organized guidance: 60 hours; work with compulsory assignments: 120 hours; other preparation: 50 hours; a total of 290 hours. Compulsory work requirements: 6 to 8 exercises, all of which except one must be approved.
