About the course
Course content
- Design of beams and slabs (not prestressed) for moment, shear, cracks and deflection. The design includes anchorage of reinforcement.
- Design of columns.
- Design of foundations for moment, shear and cracks.
Digitization: Using digital computation tools
Ethics: Background of safety factors in design of structures
Learning outcome
Knowledge:
After having completed the subject the student will have knowledge of the empirical and theoretical background for the relevant European structural building code, the so-called Eurocode 2.
Skills: After having completed the subject the student will
- be able to design concrete slabs, beams and columns, according to Eurocode 2, including the principles for drawing simple reinforcement drawings.
General competence:
- After having completed the subject the student will have very good insight into the capacity of concrete structures.
- have acquired the necessary technical terms of the subject
Learning methods and activities
Scheduled time:
lectures: 45 hours; organized guidance: 30 hours; work with compulsory assignments: 105 hours; other preparation: 40 hours; a total of 220 hours.
