The main themes include:

  • Innovation strategies.
  • The role of innovation for organizations.
  • Innovation models and innovation processes.
  • Technology and innovation.
  • Innovation and cooperation, including "open innovation".
  • Suppliers and innovation.
  • Customers, market knowledge, and innovation.
  • Sustainability as a key driver of innovation.

Learning outcome

Knowledge:

  • Advanced knowledge about different types of innovations and innovation processes.
  • Advanced knowledge about different roles customers, suppliers, and other companies can play in innovations.
  • Wide insight into the role of innovations for companies.

  • Can contribute to the post-launch review of innovation projects.

Students who want to improve their grade in a course based on several assessments, may re-take the individual component assessment. For an new assessment in connection with a failing grade, the Faculty of Economics and Management has supplementary regulations.

Required previous knowledge

Due to the nature of this course, attendance and class participation are required. Due to the interactive nature of the course, attendance may be limited. Students will in this case be assessed on the basis of credits achieved and grade average. Failure to attend the first session without prior acceptance by the course teacher will result in loss of space. The course is taught entirely in English. Evaluation and assessment will also be conducted in English. The course is only open to students from the master's programme in technology management (MLT), and to master students from NTNU Business School. In addition, exchange students who are affiliated with a business program can also access this course. See also special terms for details.
