  • The theoretical basis for the development of strategy in technology companies.
  • Strategic analysis of external and internal factors.
  • Development of strategic direction as a basis for change.
  • Organization, implementation, evaluation and control.
  • Strategy in a globalized world.
  • Technology as a strategic driver.
  • The imperfect: Strategy in practice.

Learning outcome

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of the purpose and content of strategy and strategy processes
  • Knowledge of basic theories of strategy, and knowledge of typical strategic challenges in practice
  • Knowledge of strategic processes as a basis for desired change in an organization

Skills:

  • Be able to explain connections between different parts of the strategy process
  • Be able to identify strategic challenges in practice with particular emphasis on technology companies
  • Be able to develop, implement and lead a strategic change process

General competence:

  • Basic insight into strategy and strategic change processes
  • Understanding strategy processes as a management tool
  • Have an analytical and reflective approach to strategic management in a business

Work requirements:

At the beginning of the semester, a coursework requirement must be granted that must be approved in order to take the exam. Assessment criteria: Approved/ Not approved. The coursework requirement is based on a technology case, and consists of questions related to the reviewed syllabus. The coursework requirement can be submitted individually or in groups of up to three persons. To be delivered via Blackboard by a given deadline. Non-delivery, or delivery after the specified deadline, gives the assessment "Not approved".

This course is only available as a complementary course (K-course) for the civil engineering programmes and master's programmes at the Faculty of Economics.
