About the course

Course content

In this course the students will investigate issues related to artistic processes and projects. Economy and sustainability are discussed and taught linked to any artistic activity, already in the planning and implementation of works. Reading skills and written skills is further developed in relation to the work.

In the autumn semester, the student must participate in two elective subjects that connects the importance of materials and media directly with contemporary art practice and reflection.

Learning outcome

When finishing the course the student will be able to:

  • Develop writing skills through reading, analysis and testing out different formats.
  • Develop individual artistic practice through concentrated studio work and tutorials.
  • Argue for and explain choices of media, methods, and materials.

Learning methods and activities

Participation in workshops in various techniques/media/workshops, as well as thematic courses and projects.

Supervision with fellow students and supervisors and development of an art project. The project will build upon and further develop the artistic work carried out during the 2nd Semester of year two.

Group critique in the shape of meetings with fellow students and supervisors.

Optional exchange to another institution through the KUNO or Erasmus networks.

Approved compulsory assignments are valid in the current semester.

Further on evaluation

  • Progress Review: Assessment of overall artistic development according to learning outcome.
  • Documentation: Sufficient visual, audiovisual or other documentation of activities, process and results in order to represent development in practice. The material must be submitted to Inspera.
  • Written Reflection: A text in 1500 words, that sums up activities so far, and contextualize practice with a focus on the specifics of practice. The text must be submitted to Inspera.
  • Oral presentation of submitted materials. The oral presentation serves as adjusting oral assessment.
  • Postponed or new exam will take place in the next exam period.

Admission to a programme of study is required:
Fine Art (BBK)

Required previous knowledge

Approved completion of BK1202 or similar at another accredited fine art study program.
