About the course
Course content
This course introduces students to the landscape of contemporary Art. Through a series of case studies that define turning points in the recent history of Fine Art the students become familiar with the artistic activities and aesthetic reflections that characterizes the field of contemporary Art. The course investigates key concepts of the canon of Fine Art as well as less profiled Artists, oeuvres, specific works and exhibitions as well as movements and discourses. Training critical understanding is thus an important aspect. The course reflects dynamically the shaping of the field/discourse that takes place in- and outside the Academy.
Student active participation and contribution through presentation and discussion support curricular selection and focus, and course material and syllabus span classic critical reading like Greenberg and Krauss, artists writings and newer secondary litterature.
