Course content

The course is given in the spring provided enough students sign up. Therefore, if you wish to take the course, please email Trude Tørset - trude.torset@ntnu.no - before January 15th the same semester. If enough show interest, it will be taught and others might sign up until the regular signup deadline.

The course has the following content: - Review of the basics concepts of discrete choice model - Description of different models (MNL, NL, ML) - VOT derivation and microeconomic considerations - Practical exercises on Biogeme/Python Biogeme - Review of the basic concepts of route assignment models (car / PT) - Description of different models (user classes, algorithms, stability and equilibrium)

Learning outcome

- Knowledge about various choice models, input data for choice models, estimation techniques - Knowledge about requirements for equilibrium, algorithms to achieve route distribution for cars and public transport passenger - Use the program Biogene/Python Biogene to estimate simple discrete choice models - Analyse and estimate choice models - Choose between and use route choice models - Understand and develop discrete choice models to explain transport moving patterns - Understand the route assignment algorithms for cars, public transport and active modes.

Learning methods and activities

Recorded videos from 2021, seminar and self studies and writing a scientific article.
