Course content
High-quality audiological services should be based on the best knowledge and available research. Therefore, audiologists must actively seek new knowledge in their field in order to stay professionally updated, as well as to use established best-practice methodology in their professional practice. Evidence-based practice (EBP) means combining clinical experience and expertise with the best available knowledge from research. The patient should also be allowed to participate in the treatment decision. This is how knowledge from experience, research and user knowledge is combined. Best practice refers to a method or technique that has been shown to be effective through research and experience. With the help of EBP, one can identify and implement best practice in one's professional practice.
The course deals with EBP and best practice in an audiological (re)habilitation course, as well as maintenance and further development of basic practical skills based on a biopsychosocial approach. The course takes place in clinical activities where the student during supervision and/or guidance meets patients, and gets the opportunity to combine theoretical knowledge from previous courses and the experience gained during the practice periods with audiological best practice methodology.
