Course content
- Overview of legal sources and legal methodology
- Company law: The rules for ownership and organization of business activities. Particularly about the companies form joint-stock company, public limited company, sole proprietorship. Rules for the establishment, registration, operation and liquidation of companies, as well as the owners' financial responsibility for the company's obligations.
- Contract law: Contractual legal concepts, conclusion of agreements, interpretation of agreements, proclamation, standard contracts.
- Right of purchase: Consumer protection, the relationship between law and agreement, buyer's and seller's duties upon a purchase/sale, delay, shortage, right of withdrawal.
- Labor law: Labor rules, employer and employee concepts, employer's right of management, employment contract, collective agreements and duty of peace, employer's duties, employee duties, working hours, pay, vacation, legal absence from work, termination, protection against discrimination and gender equality requirements.
- Tort law: The terms of liability, especially regarding employer responsibility.
- Monetary law and credit law: The "birth, life and death" of the monetary claim, offsetting, waiver of money requirements, default, credit agreements, discretion, duty of disclosure, disclosure obligation, change of credit agreements.
Learning outcome
The subject gives an overview of the legal framework in business, as well as an introduction to key topics that are particularly relevant from a business law perspective. The knowledge the students will acquire in this subject will give a great competitive advantage when establishing their own business. One will also benefit greatly from the subject as both future manager and employee. Students gain insight into the relevant rules for each area, as well as training in how a rule should be interpreted and applied to specific issues.

- A comprehensive understanding of private law rules that are relevant within the business law field.
- Knowledge of laws and regulations that are particularly relevant for businesses and managers.

- Identify, apply, discuss and solve practical legal issues within the subject theme.

- To be able to navigate safely in applicable legal rules and have an understanding of their importance for good business management.
- Increased understanding of labour laws and regulations relevant for employers and employees.
- To have the ability to relate objectively to a legal issue and to see a case from several pages.

Up to two compulsory papers. The exact number will be given at the start of the course.

24 hour individual home exam. A retake exam will be offered the following semester.
Passed mandatory exercise is valid for later continuation exams.
