Course content
The course builds on AIS2002 Reguleringsteknikk and AIS2102 Dynamiske systemer, including linear systems theory, classical control systems engineering, and modelling, analysis and control in state space.
Selected topics are announced at the beginning of the semester and will include some of the following:
- Linear quadratic regulator and -estimator
- Optimal state estimation and discrete Kalman Filter
- System identification
- Analysis and control of digital dynamical systems
- Model predictive control
- Genetic algorithm for parameter optimisation
- Possibly other topics
Learning outcome
Knowledge
- The candidate can explain and compare theory, principles, strengths and weaknesses of methods introduced in the course
Skills
- The candidate can demonstrate use of methods introduced in the course, both through digital tools, simulation, and with physical lab equipment
General competence
- The candidate can employ digital tools for modelling, analysis, control, simulation, and visualisation of dynamical systems
- The candidate can explain the value of cybernetics for sustainable processes and systems
Learning methods and activities
Learning activities include lectures, tutorials and practical lab/project work. A constructivist approach for learning is endorsed, with focus on problem solving and practical application of theory.
Further on evaluation
The final grade is based on an overall evaluation of the portfolio, which consists of a number of work delivered through the semester. For the resit exam, the portfolio can be improved and must be re-submitted.
Specific conditions
Admission to a programme of study is required:
Automation and Intelligent Systems (BIAIS)
Recommended previous knowledge
- AIS2102 Dynamiske systemer
- AIS2002 Reguleringsteknikk
- ISTA1002 Statistikk
Required previous knowledge
The course has no prerequisites. It is a requirement that students are enrolled in the study programme to which the course belongs.
Course materials
An updated course overview, including curriculum, is presented at the start of the semester and will typically also include English material.
