Course content

Students must choose a topic within the domain of marketing management, that are subjected to empirical testing.

Learning outcome

Knowledge

  • The bachelor thesis should be an independent piece of group work with the assistance of a supervisor. Through the work with the thesis students should demonstrate ability to acquire in-depth understanding and competence within their chosen area.
  • The students must define a research question and, based on this, carry out an assessment
  • Students should acquire knowledge and understanding of relevant theories and frameworks.
  • Methodological knowledge and analysis knowledge
  • Knowledge of the usefulness of theory and models for the business world

Skills

  • Students should be able to formulate a research question and from this collect empirical data and analyze it with the use of relevant theory.
  • The student will be able to bridge theory and practice based on the specific research questions developed by the group.
  • Through the work with the thesis students should develop their methodological and analytical abilities
  • The work with the thesis will give the students training and experience in collaboration across academic, human and social characteristics.
  • The student will gain experience in academic writing

General competence

  • Develop experience in planning and executing a long term research and development project.
  • The student will also be able to cooperate with others
  • Experience in applying theory and models in marketing to test and investigate these in practice.

Further on evaluation

Thesis to be submitted towards the end of April, the exact date will be submitted on Blackboard.

Students who do not submit within the published date will have to wait until the following year. In case of unavoidable circumstances (illness) students may apply for an extension until the 31st of August the same year.

The Bachelor thesis is to be submitted in groups. Group sizes and information about project proposals and other practical information will be submitted on Blackboard. Applications for working alone must be submitted to the department and the application must be based on the description of course aims. If the application to write alone is granted, students will still be expected to meet the same requirements as a thesis submitted by a group. Available time from the supervisor will be less.

Specific conditions

Admission to a programme of study is required:
Business Administration (BØA)

Required previous knowledge

The course MET3001 or equivalent must be passed. In order to be admissible for the course students must be registered as third year students within the study specialization Marketing for the study year that the thesis will be submitted.

Course materials

Literature will be selected in dialogue with the supervisor relevant for the chosen project.
