Course content

The bachelor assignment is centered on formulating a research question, and planning and conducting a research project of relevance within management accounting and control.

Learning outcome

Knowledge

  • The student has knowledge of the specific subjects related to the chosen research agenda or research question.
  • The student has knowledge of the opportunities and limitations related to the research design.

Skills

  • The student is able to develop a research question and to plan and conduct a research project of relevance in management accounting and control. This will be presented in the bachelor assignment.

General competence

  • The student is familiar with writing in an academic manner and will be able to bridge theory and practice drawing on the specific research question developed by the group.
  • The student will also be able to discuss and reflect upon methodological issues relevant for the study.
  • The student is familiar with conducting a research project

Learning methods and activities

The bachelor assignment is primarily written in groups. Each group will be assigned a supervisor that will assist the group throughout the writing process of the bachelor assignment.

Further on evaluation

The bachelor assignment is due at the end of April. Date will be announced on BlackBoard.

The bachelor assignment will be presented by the groups. More information will be given on BlackBoard.

Students that fail to turn in the assignment in time can turn it in Apil in the following year. If unforseen circumstances occur, for instance disease, students may apply for a postponement where they turn in the assignment 31st of August.

The bachelor assignment is written in groups. The size of the group and further information can be found on BlackBoard. Students may apply to write the assignment individually. If so, an application must be forwarded to the administration. If you apply to write as an individual, and you get it approved, the thesis will still be evaluated as if written by a group.

Admission to a programme of study is required:
Business Administration (BØA)

Required previous knowledge

The student must be in the third year and have chosen the profile Management Accounting/Management Accounting and Control. MET3001 or equivalent course is required.
