Course content

Course content

The course is conducted as a guided self-study on topics and themes related to UEP’s scope of work. It intends to allow students to gain knowledge on interdisciplinary topics and projects that match their interests and motivations and allow them to develop specific core competencies. These can range from small-scale research projects, case studies, practical projects to initiatives that are related to social and sustainable development. The students are required to approach a supervisor and agree on the scope of the project and guidance. The course can be taken only once in the course of the study program.

The course may also be offered as a summer/winter school within an ongoing project at the Department.

The course enables students to explore one or more of the central concepts and values highlighted in the UEP program, relate this to relevant empirical examples, and reflect on the relevance of theory in practice.

A prerequisite for all formats is a 1-2-page course outline drafted by the student candidate and approved by the supervisor. The outline should specify the objective, the methods, the approach, the deliverables, a work-plan, the course materials and estimate the workload corresponding to 7,5 credits.
