Course content
Function analysis and programming are important elements of the design process. A thorough analysis of the clients needs should make the framework of the use of resources and the focus of the design. So the academic content is the critical thinking and persistently questioning. To take an open minded absolutely neutral position. Design methods and programmes are studied by considering specific architectural examples (case studies). Some elements may be taught in a cooperation with other relevant courses.

Learning methods and activities
The course consists of lectures, seminars and presentation of compulsory assignments. A voluntary study trip might be arranged in order to obtain information about relevant architecture on site. Students who decide to participate cover their own travel expenses. Students who choose not to participate in the study trip will obtain an equivalent learning outcome by researching information from alternative sources during the study trip.
Further on evaluation
The assignment(s) are mandatory and form(s) the basis for the assessment. At the regular exam, students may be offered the opportunity to present the final exercise orally to the sensor. The oral presentation itself is not included as part of the assessment. Students can register for a re-scheduled examination in the next exam period.

Completed three years basic courses in architecture, bachelor in architecture or equivalent. The course should be taken in combination with "AAR4602 Architectural Design of Large Buildings 2" in the same semester.
